MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the Archie Police Department to provide the best service and safety possible to its citizens, school, community and visitors, and to do so in a professional and friendly manner.

PROGRAMS

As the Chief  of Police, it is my goal to administer as many programs as possible that are community oriented and will enhance the quality of life of the citizens of our community.  I wish to provide a safe and welcome environment, where parents can raise their children and feel safe sending them to school.  I have a great interest in the safety of our children, and since becoming the Chief of Police, I have been developing, what I believe to be, a good working relationship with the administration of the Archie Public School.  The programs that follow are what our department are currently involved in, or are currently being developed and will be administered in the near future.

IDENTI-KID PROGRAM:
This program provides the parents with an information sheet, which includes information about the child and parents, the child's medical history, description, dental identification, clear fingerprints, and a recent photograph of the child.  The record is retained by the parents, and although we hope that it will never have to be used, it is available for law enforcement use in the case that the child is ever lost or abducted.  This record can be used by any agency, no matter where the family may live.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM:
A program that assists the police department in doing their job to the best of their abilities.  It organizes neighbors and educates them in observation, proper reporting techniques and shows them how to get involved and help police their own neighborhood, which is the responsibility of all citizens.

KEEPING YOUR CHILD SAFE:
This program has not yet been developed, but is in the planning stages.  It will educate parents and children on ways to avoid or discourage the child being abducted and what to do in the event of an abduction.  Too many times an abduction could be avoided, and when it occurs, crucial time is lost by taking the wrong steps.  We want to do our best to prevent these tragedies.

D.A.R.E.
The Drug Abuse Resistance Education program has been in use for several years now.  It shows children the effects of drugs and alcohol,  encourages the children to have confidence in themselves, encourages the development of self esteem, and gives them reason to resist peer pressure.  If presented correctly, the program not only helps them to resist drugs and alcohol, but also other harmful practices, including violence.  Although we do not currently have a D.A.R.E. officer on staff, our school has a D.A.R.E. program in effect, administered by a Cass County Sheriff's Deputy, a certified D.A.R.E. Officer.

S.T.E.P.
The Safety Traffic Enforcement Program was developed to reduce traffic accidents on the roadways of Cass County by establishing combined efforts to address traffic problems and concerns.  These efforts will also combine public education and public compliance together with the goal of accident reduction through traffic enforcement.  Our department is an active member of the S.T.E.P. program.
