A Note From Our Superintendent

Welcome to the Cass County R-V web site produced by Mrs. Tracy Randol, in conjunction with meeting the requirements for a college course through Lesley College.  Mrs. Randol asked me to write a short segment about the Archie School District, and following are a few facts concerning our district.
The Archie School District, as it is known by local patrons, is located on Highway 71, just south of Harrisonville, and about a 30 minute drive from the south side of Kansas City.  The district started out the year with an enrollment of 520 students (K-12), 48 certified staff members, and 23 support staff members.
The district's mission is to create lifelong learners.  In an effort to do that, we offer a curriculum deeply based in the basics with several supporting programs.  Some of our supporting programs include:

The district also offers a wide variety of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities.  These include football, basketball, volleyball, track, baseball, band, vocal music, cheerleading, quiz bowl, FFA, FHA, FBLA, yearbook, and student council.
In recent years we have also focused on technology by purchasing over 75 computers.  We now have a fully equipped elementary computer lab, a fully equipped high school computer lab, a business computer lab, electronic access in the library, and at least one computer in every classroom.  The entire K-12 facility is networked and has Internet access throughout.
In March of 1999 the district went through the state evaluation process (MSIP).  Before that evaluation, the district had been provisionally accredited.  As a result of the MSIP visit in March, the Archie School District is now accredited with distinction for improvement in performance.  The school district met 10 of the 11 standards that are outlined in the MSIP process.  This, of course, is an achievement that the district is very proud of.
The school district is very fortunate to be located in a community that is very caring and supportive.  In 1994, a bond issue was passed, and a new high school wing was constructed.  In 1997, a full waiver of Prop C was passed, and this has enabled the district to improve teacher salaries in an effort to get and keep good teachers, and to improve technology.  The district has also had other improvements in recent years, such as replacing 130 windows, adding a new elementary computer lab, purchasing of a new mobile classroom for Title One, and installing a telephone intercom system in the elementary.  An air conditioning project in the elementary wing, a roof restoration project for the music building, and a tuck pointing project are all currently being considered.
If you would like to know more about the Archie School District, would like a copy of our annual school report, or would like to visit the district, please feel free to contact us at the school.

Respectfully,

Forrest Bollow
